SPIE and UNC Charlotte Foundation Establish $1M Scholarship to fund Optical Science and Engineering Research
UNC Charlotte received a $500,000 gift from SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics, announced this week at the SPIE Photonics West conference in San Francisco. The gift was matched by the UNC Charlotte Foundation to create the SPIE Emerging Innovators in Optical Science and Engineering Scholarship, a $1 million endowment that will support two doctoral students in the Optical Science and Engineering program. The fund, the first of its kind for the Klein College of Science, will support research in growing fields such as photonics, optical metrology, and biomedical optics. Details of the news can be read on the Klein College of Science webpage (link).
